![]() Her personal observations on the Austrian people and the country itself were especially interesting. The driver was extremely careful without any buffeting about, and the guide, Sophia, a lovely multilingual Ukrainian, kept the ride from seeming too long with her idiosyncratic, well-researched comments and stories about Vienna and Austria as we drew closer to the Alps and Hallstatt. It is certainly picturesque but also something of a tourist trap within the village itself, As for the bus trip from Vienna, it went wonderfully well despite the long 13 hours. I’ll do it again! Read moreīooked through GetYourGuide, this excursion was everything promised and more although I don’t necessarily agree that Hallstatt is the most beautiful town in the world. No one should think twice before taking this trip. Great visuals all along the way, and not just at the end point (Hallstatt). Highest respect for her, for being so throughly professional and keeping such high spirits for a tour as long as this one. Ensuring the right amount of volume for all the rows to listen to the commentary, and the right amount of classical music to suit everybody’s tastebuds in music - speaks about how much she and cared for the travelers. And her storytelling is very visual and full of funny anecdotes which keeps the tour very entertaining. Not leaving a single person behind, while making sure we are sticking to the schedule- she does such a fabulous and thankless job. Not only is she supremely knowledgeable, but at the same time highly cognizant of her responsibilities as the captain of the ship. Special words for Sofia who was the heart and soul of the tour. Can’t think of a single advice for the crew and the itinerary - it was perfect to the tee. One of the best tours I’ve had in a long time. We really did enjoy this day trip! Read more If you want a true sound of music tour, look for another tour where the focus is sound of music! So if you want a terrific historical tour with some sound of music thrown in this was an excellent tour. We actually had some ladies leave the tour and take the train back because it was not what they expected. When we toured Salzburg though it was just a city tour and other than the graveyard where they hid, there were only mentions of things like up there is the convent where Maria von Trapp was a novice. We saw many amazing things including Lake Mondsee. We did see the church used for filming the wedding, the area where the Trapp family hid in the movie at the end, and the gazebo for the 16 going on 17 song. The biggest downside is that is supposed to be a Sound of Music tour. She conducted the tour in English and Russian which meant that on the way to Salzburg she talked non-stop. She was very knowledgeable about the history of Austria and was entertaining. ![]() We had a lovely time on this tour! Our tour guide, Lidia, was amazing.
